The local authority in Al-Zaydiyah District of Al-Hodeida Governorate today launched a project to build 13 housing units for families affected by floods in the Uzlat Al-Afrad area
The project, funded by Bonyan Foundation and implemented by Al-Zaydiyah Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, aims to provide suitable housing for the affected people
The director of the district, Hassan Al-Ahdal, explained that the project comes within humanitarian efforts to provide housing for flood victims, ensuring them stability and a dignified life, noting that each housing unit consists of a room kitchen bathroom, and a courtyard with specifications suitable for the local environment
He stressed the importance of partnership between the local authority, implementing and supporting organizations, primarily Bonyan Foundation and Al-Zaydiyah Cooperative Society, in addition to the active role of the local community, which contributed 25 percent of the project costs, estimated at 65 million riyals
For his part, the initiatives official for the northern square districts in the governorate, Walid Jubaili, affirmed the keenness of the governorate's leadership to support community initiatives and expand developmental projects that contribute to alleviating citizens' suffering and addressing the significant damages left by floods during the last rainy season
