Berlin - Saba:
German Federal Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Amstberg has affirmed that Israel's targeting of paramedics in the Gaza Strip is a violation of international law and must not go unpunished.
She said, "The Israeli army's distortion of the incident of the execution of paramedics in Hashashin area of Rafah on March 23rd adds further tension to German-Israeli relations."
Amstberg added in a press statement, reported by al-Quds Press, that "the distortion of the incident exacerbates tension in German-Israeli relations, as the Israeli army targets people even as they help those in need. This brutality is unbearable."
She explained that a video clip showed that the paramedics killed by Israeli soldiers were wearing distinctive life jackets with blue flashing lights.
Amstberg called for a swift and independent investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible.
Last week, the Palestine Red Crescent Society recovered 14 bodies after they were targeted by the Israeli enemy in the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip. These bodies included eight of its crew members, five members of the Civil Defense, and a UN agency employee.
The Israeli enemy has killed 27 Red Crescent members while performing their humanitarian duty in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
