Vienna - Saba:
A Gallup poll showed that 55% of Austrians view Donald Trump's US presidency as a threat to the European Union.
The institute, which published the poll results on Friday, stated that there is a high desire for economic protest, especially against American products.
According to the poll results, the tone between the Austrian people and the United States has become harsher, at least in terms of sentiment.
According to the poll, a clear majority of respondents want the European Union to have more independence from the United States, especially in light of Donald Trump's second presidency.
Of the 1,000 Austrians surveyed, 55% see Donald Trump as a threat to the European Union, while only 19% see his presidency as an opportunity, and 20% do not expect any impact.
Opinions regarding Europe's political direction are even more pronounced: 59% of respondents want the EU to act more independently from the United States in the future, while only 32% support compromise solutions.
