Ibb - Saba:

Ibb governor Abdulwahid Salah and Engineer Hadi Quraiah, Chairman of the General Authority for Water Resources and Facilities, on Saturday jointly reviewed the operational progress of the Authority's branch in Ibb province.

Their discussion focused on the services provided by the branch, the execution of tasks across its various departments, and the ongoing efforts to curb unauthorized well drilling, which has reportedly seen a significant decrease due to intensified monitoring and increased public awareness campaigns.

Governor Salah and Chairman Quraiah received a detailed briefing from Mohammed al-Warafi, Director of the Authority's branch in Ibb, regarding critical issues related to water resource management and protection against depletion.

They also reviewed the strategies in place for monitoring water resources, regulating their utilization, and controlling encroachments and violations affecting water basins. Furthermore, the meeting covered the achievements of the Authority's branch within the governorate during the preceding period.

The meeting, which included key figures from the Water Resources Authority branch and the Local Water and Wastewater Corporation, addressed pressing environmental challenges facing Ibb province. These included the pollution stemming from the landfill in al-Suhol area and the concerning practice of irrigating agricultural land with sewage water in Maytam Basin area.

Participants, including Engineer Kamal al-Qutaini, Director of the Local Water and Wastewater Corporation, emphasized the necessity of strengthening collaborative efforts between the Water Resources Authority branch and the Local Water and Wastewater Corporation. The aim is to develop practical and sustainable solutions to these environmental problems, ensuring effective pollution reduction and the protection of vital water resources and agricultural land.

Governor Salah and Chairman Quraiah commended the significant role played by the Authority's branch in Ibb in safeguarding water resources, limiting illegal drilling activities, and protecting existing wells from depletion.

They stressed the importance of continuing oversight and awareness-raising initiatives, alongside improving the efficiency of water management practices to guarantee the long-term sustainability of this crucial resource.

Both governor Salah and Chairman Quraiah highlighted that the visit underscores the commitment of the province and authority leaderships to enhance inter-institutional coordination and monitor the implementation of national policies aimed at environmental protection, the regulation of water resource utilization, and the effective identification and resolution of existing challenges.
