Occupied Quds - (Saba):
The Israeli government decided to revoke the visas of a delegation of 27 French MPs and left-wing officials, two days before their trip to the Palestinian territories.
A statement from the delegation, issued on Monday, indicated that the French Consulate in Quds had extended an invitation for a five-day visit aimed at "promoting international cooperation and a culture of peace" in the occupied Palestinian territories. The statement confirmed that the Israeli authorities revoked the visas.
This measure comes a few days after Tel Aviv barred two British members of parliament from the ruling Labour Party from entering the occupied territories. This came after French President Emmanuel Macron stated that France might soon recognize a Palestinian state, in addition to his recent pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a war criminal, regarding the situation in Gaza.
Seventeen members of the delegation, who belong to the French Green and Communist parties, described the move as "collective punishment" and called on President Macron to intervene.
