Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, currently visiting China, met with Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and First Vice Premier of China, this morning in the Great Hall of the People.
Iranian News Agency (IRNA) reported that Araghchi briefed the Chinese official on the Iranian-US indirect negotiations and their developments.
The agency noted that during this meeting, noting the long history of friendly relations between the two countries, the two sides reviewed the latest developments in cooperation within the framework of the Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and exchanged views on ways to accelerate the implementation of the 25-year comprehensive cooperation plan.
Araghchi highlighted China's status as a strategic and reliable partner for Iran, emphasizing the importance of developing cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels, including within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS group.
The Iranian Foreign Minister explained Iran's Asian-oriented policy and regional and international developments, considering close interaction between like-minded countries, including Iran and China, essential to countering bullying and unilateralism.
He emphasized Iran's firm determination to expand relations with China comprehensively.
Regarding regional and international developments, Araghchi explained Iran's perspective in this context, particularly the grave dangers posed by the Zionist entity's continued perpetration of genocidal crimes in occupied Palestine and its provocation of wars in the surrounding region, as well as the repeated US aggression against Yemen.
He stressed the need for an effective and immediate global response to halt chaos and prevent the rule of the jungle in international relations.
During this meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister briefed the Chinese official on the process of indirect Iranian-US negotiations and their developments, emphasizing that Iran, despite its bitter past experiences, has pursued the path of diplomacy with good intentions and seriousness.
For his part, Chinese First Vice Premier Deng Xuexiang expressed his happiness with the comprehensive expansion of relations between Iran and China in all fields.
He considered the strategic partnership between the two countries to be a product of mutual trust and respect and based on the common interests of the two countries.
He emphasized the Chinese leadership's will to strengthen relations and cooperation with Iran in all areas of common interest.
Xiang went on to describe enhanced Iranian-Chinese coordination and interaction as important for protecting multilateralism and the rule of law at the international level, considering the cooperation between the two countries a valuable example of South-South cooperation.
The Chinese First Vice Premier also affirmed his country's support for Iran's efforts to lift sanctions and engage in talks on the nuclear issue.
