Gaza – Saba:
The Director of the Medical Laboratories and Blood Banks Department in the Gaza Strip, Sahar Ghanem, revealed on Thursday that the sector suffers from a severe shortage of supplies needed to conduct blood tests.
According to Quds Press, Ghanem stated that essential preliminary tests for patients with chronic diseases are unavailable.
She explained that during the ceasefire period, the laboratories department received only limited quantities of the necessary testing materials.
She emphasized that "the major problem lies in the destruction of about 70% of the medical equipment."
The Israeli army resumed its aggressive assault and tightened siege on Gaza at dawn on March 18, 2025, after a two-month pause under a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on January 19. However, Israel violated the terms of the agreement throughout the truce period.
With American and European support, Israel has been committing what is described as genocide in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in over 168,000 Palestinian casualties, mostly women and children, as well as more than 14,000 missing persons.
