Islamabad – SABA:
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif issued a stark warning on Friday about the possibility of a nuclear confrontation with India if the current crisis, sparked by a deadly attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir, is not contained.
The escalation follows a surge in tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, raising global concerns about regional stability.
Asif emphasized that a conflict between two nuclear powers would have dire global repercussions, urging India to resolve disputes, especially over Kashmir, through peaceful dialogue. He reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to retaliate against any Indian military aggression, including airstrikes.
The minister called for international intervention, particularly from the U.S., to mediate "wise solutions" and prevent further escalation.
The crisis erupted after gunmen attacked a tourist bus in Bahalgam, Kashmir, on Tuesday, killing 26 people (mostly Indians) and injuring others.
