American Coco Gauff, ranked fourth in the world, advanced to the quarterfinals of the Madrid Open for the first time in her career, after defeating Swiss Belinda Bencic in straight sets (6-4, 6-2) in the round of 16.

This was Gauff's 17th win of the season and her third quarterfinal appearance in 2025. Gauff will next face Russian Mira Andreeva, who defeated Ukrainian Yuliya Starodubtseva in straight sets (6-1, 6-4).
