Tehran - Saba:
Tehran Mayor Alireza Zakani announced the identification of 60 underground safe points for use as emergency shelters. He said that 8,200 housing units in Tehran were damaged by the Zionist aggression against the country.
In an interview with Iranian television on Wednesday evening, Zakani said, as reported by the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) on Thursday: "During this war, we were able to identify this number of safe points in various areas of Tehran."
He added: "We have equipped these 60 points with information devices and sirens, and we are working to build parking lots and shelters in the capital."
He continued: "In addition, we have considered metro stations as part of a plan to provide underground shelters for citizens in case of an emergency."
Zakani stated that they plan to build underground parking spaces in ten-story buildings, adding, "In these buildings, we will allocate three floors for commercial and service purposes. These spaces will partially solve the parking problem and will be used as shelters in the event of an accident."
The Tehran mayor added, "We will take into account all shelter requirements in these spaces."
Zakani added, "We will make an effort to transform the damaged areas into museums, but plaques will also be installed in other areas. We will certainly leave these places as a memory for future generations."
He pointed out that 8,200 residential units in the capital were damaged during the 12-day war, adding, "This damage ranges from minor damage, such as broken glass, doors, and windows, to complete destruction."
