Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced on Thursday that preparations are underway for a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Kuala Lumpur.
In response to a question about the possibility of a meeting, Zakharova told Sputnik: "I can confirm that such a meeting is being prepared."
For its part, the US State Department has listed an upcoming meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on its agenda, on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
