Tehran - Saba:
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmail Baghaei said on Monday that the so-called (European) trigger mechanism has no legal basis, and resorting to such a mechanism lacks the moral, legal and political dimension.
In his press conference, Baghaei explained that given the developments of recent weeks, the threat to use the trigger mechanism is nothing but a political act and comes within the framework of the confrontation with Iran, and will be met with a proportionate and appropriate response.
He emphasized that the main reason for the continuation of the Zionist entity's crimes and aggression against the countries of the region, and the continuation of the genocide in Gaza, is the impunity of this entity, according to the official IRNA news agency.
Baghaei said: "Over the past two years, we have all witnessed an unprecedented genocide in Gaza and all governments and international organizations must take action in this regard, based on the principles of international law and moral and humanitarian standards."
"The International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, the United Nations Security Council and human rights mechanisms have been paralyzed by the obstructionism of the United States and some supporters of the Zionist entity, preventing them from taking the slightest effective action," he continued.
Baghaei stated that the Zionist entity is accused and guilty, and must be held accountable, and its supporters, especially the United States, as the biggest supporter of the Zionist entity, must be held equally accountable.
"Perhaps the worst crime we have witnessed in the past two years, a crime that is inhumane in every sense of the word, is the comprehensive siege of a densely populated Strip, depriving its people of food, medicine and basic necessities, then gathering them in one place and shoot them directly."
He continued: "Hundreds have been martyred so far today in food distribution centers and in queues waiting to receive food. This act needs no description or documentation, it is in itself a clear example of a crime against humanity, genocide and a war crime."
"The responsibility of regional countries, especially Islamic countries, in this regard is very grave and the lack of decisive action has led to the continuation , expansion of the expansionist tendencies of the Zionist entity and its tendency to ignite war," the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
He expressed his hope that the countries of the region and the entire international community would see the developments of the past two years as a continuation of the Zionist entity's expansionist tendencies over eight decades, and be vigilant.
He emphasized that if decisive and immediate action is not taken to stop these crimes, the wave of these crimes will undoubtedly not be limited to one point or region.
Asked whether Iran has any specific preconditions for the resumption of nuclear negotiations, Baghaei said: "Diplomacy should not be a theatrical and deceitful arena."
He explained: "We were serious about diplomacy and negotiations, and we entered with good intentions, but as everyone witnessed, before the sixth round of negotiations, the Zionist entity launched a military aggression against Iran as part of task-sharing with the United States and we will enter the negotiation process only after we have confidence in the feasibility of diplomacy and this process."
