Taiz - Saba:

Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai and Acting Governor of Taiz Ahmed al-Masawa on Monday inaugurated 65 agricultural and fisheries projects implemented during the year 1446 AH (1446 AH) at a total cost of 2 billion and 41 million Y.R, funded by the local authority in the governorate through the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit and the agricultural sector.

The inaugurations, attended by the Assistant to the Fourth Military Region, Brigadier General Mohammed al-Khaled, and the Deputy Governors for Development Affairs, Abdul-Wasie al-Shamsi and Mohammed al-Hussaini, included 25 projects in the fields of institutional building, social development, guidance, media, marketing, services, and the development of animal and plant wealth and land resources.

At the opening, the Minister of Agriculture emphasized that the inauguration of the agricultural and fisheries projects falls within the framework of the directives of the Leader of the Revolution, Sayyed Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, the directives of the Supreme Political Council, and the program of the Government of Change and Construction to advance agricultural development in the governorate and enhance its role in food security.

The Minister emphasized the importance of focusing on agricultural projects, whether institutional or community-based, as well as on animal and plant wealth, services, and water resource development.

Dr. al-Rubai emphasized that Taiz governorate will receive priority this year in terms of substituting local products for imported products and absorbing many local products, including legumes and other products that can be absorbed or replace industrial inputs included in the processing industries.

He stated that factory owners and investors are willing to absorb local products, calling on farmers and producers in the governorate to prioritize local products so that they can compete with foreign products.

The Acting Governor of Taiz confirmed that there are projects under implementation, indicating that the main pillar relied upon in this field is animal and plant production.

He expressed his happiness with the Minister of Agriculture's visit to the governorate today, which represents an incentive for the local authority leadership to further support the agricultural sector, advance it, and better process and market products for the benefit of farmers, the nation, and the land.

Al-Masawa noted that the opening of agricultural and fisheries projects reflects the revolutionary and political leadership's directives and its support for the local authority to enhance food security and achieve self-sufficiency.

For his part, Engineer Abdullah al-Janadi, head of the agricultural sector in Taiz, confirmed that the governorate is witnessing a qualitative shift in agricultural development. He explained that, through the development work team, the agricultural sector in the governorate has made significant strides in institutional building, with 10 agricultural cooperatives formed and work underway on three cooperatives.

He explained that the team is currently conducting field visits to assess the work of the cooperatives and agricultural offices in the districts to stimulate agricultural work in all districts.

The Minister of Agriculture and the Acting Governor of Taiz visited several national dairy and food factories in the Al-Hawban area.

They listened to an explanation from Nadhir al-Shamiri, head of the working group for the Hael Group of Companies in Yemen, Rabie Bazel, the group's Taiz region supervisor, and other specialists about the progress of work in the factories. They emphasized the need to adhere to government directives to replace imported inputs with industrial inputs, including legumes and dairy products, and everything else that can be produced locally through coordination and study.

They noted that local products are of high quality if cared for using the correct scientific methods.

Al-Rubai and al-Masawa expressed confidence in the engagement of national and industrial investors with the state's approach to substitution using scientific and well-thought-out methods, in coordination with factories and investors, to advance national industries on sound foundations.
