West Bank – Saba:
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office announced on Thursday the martyrdom of detainee Samir Mohammad Yousef al-Rifai, 53, from the town of Rummana in the Jenin district, just seven days after his arrest in the prisons of the Zionist enemy.
In a statement cited by the Palestinian news agency “Safa,” the office described al-Rifai’s death as “a new crime added to the record of systematic killings pursued by the prison administration against Palestinian detainees.”
It noted that al-Rifai—a father of five—became the 311th martyr of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement since 1967, including at least 74 martyrs since October 7.
“These figures reflect the scale of the ongoing crimes committed against Palestinian detainees, and are based only on the cases whose identities have been confirmed amid the continued crime of enforced disappearance,” the office added.
The Prisoners’ Media Office held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for al-Rifai’s death, highlighting the escalating pattern of killings against prisoners amid “a disturbing international silence and clear failure by human rights organizations to fulfill their duties.”
The office called on the international community—particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross—to act urgently by launching a transparent international investigation into these crimes, imposing sanctions on the Israeli occupation, and ending the state of impunity that has shielded it from accountability and justice.
