Bayda – Saba:
Bayda governor Abdullah Idris on Thursday launched a project to distribute agricultural equipment to model cooperatives, as part of a broader agricultural machinery and equipment loan initiative valued at 59 million and 269 thousand Yemeni riyals.
During the launch event, governor Idris was briefed by Agricultural Sector Official Eng. Mohammed al-Haidari on the distributed machinery, which includes three tractors, three plows, grain sieves, and threshers.
These tools are designated for agricultural cooperatives in the model districts of Mukayras, Dhi Na'im, and Sabah. The project is implemented by the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in coordination with the Agricultural Cooperative Union and Bunyan Development Foundation.
Governor Idris praised the project as an important step toward encouraging farmers to expand the cultivation of cash crops, ultimately aiming for self-sufficiency. He stressed that supporting the agricultural sector remains a top priority for the local authority.
He also highlighted the importance of focusing on reclaiming arid lands, in line with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council.
The governor urged an expansion of community-based initiatives in the agricultural sector and the formation and activation of agricultural cooperatives, considering them key partners to official institutions.
