Berlin - Saba:
The German government called on Wednesday for the urgent and comprehensive delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, as living and humanitarian conditions deteriorate unprecedentedly.
Government spokesperson Steffen Cornelius stated in a press briefing, "The situation in Gaza requires immediate action to deliver aid to civilians without delay." He emphasized that Berlin is "continuously reviewing its policy toward Israel based on on-the-ground realities."
Cornelius noted that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will meet later today with French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss developments in Gaza and ways to push for a permanent ceasefire and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the population.
These statements come amid growing local and international criticism of the unconditional support provided by some Western countries to Israel, while the humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged enclave worsens after more than a year and a half.
