London - Saba:
Oxfam has warned of the worsening humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, confirming that famine has been widespread across the enclave for some time and has led to the deaths of many civilians due to starvation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the organization emphasized its continued alarm over the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, amid insufficient responses to repeated distress calls. This has left humanitarian workers with a growing sense of hopelessness.
Oxfam stressed that the residents of Gaza are facing severe crises, most notably malnutrition and water contamination, exacerbating the suffering of civilians living in what it described as catastrophic and unprecedented humanitarian conditions.
The humanitarian disaster in Gaza continues to worsen unprecedentedly, with all crossings closed for over 140 days, despite a previous ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that enemy forces have abandoned.
Earlier today, Gaza’s Ministry of Health reported that hospitals in the Strip recorded 10 new deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of famine and malnutrition-related deaths to 111.
