Moscow - Saba:
A Russian intelligence report revealed on Monday that London is planning to use NATO allies to launch a large-scale attack against the so-called "shadow fleet" transporting Russian oil.
The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service stated in a report that British intelligence intends to carry out covert operations aimed at damaging infrastructure linked to Russian energy exports. These plans reportedly involve using oil tankers to carry out provocative attacks.
According to the report, cited by Russia’s Novosti Agency, Britain is considering several possible scenarios, including staging an incident involving an "undesirable" tanker in a strategic maritime strait or a chokepoint in shipping lanes.
Another scenario mentioned involves setting fire to a tanker while it is being loaded at a port belonging to a country friendly to Moscow.
The report claims that such operations would cause significant damage, prompting an international investigation and undermining trust in the energy infrastructure of these countries. The goal would be to portray the transport of Russian oil as a threat to global shipping.
The report further alleges that Ukrainian security forces would be the ones executing these operations, with the aim of disrupting navigation and provoking international tension.
According to the Russian assessment, London seeks to curb the influence of the "shadow fleet," which continues to transport Russian oil, by pressuring the U.S. administration—through these operations—into imposing strict secondary sanctions on buyers of Russian oil.
