The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) declared on Friday that the Zionist cabinet’s approval of plans to occupy Gaza City and forcibly displace its residents is a new war crime that the Israeli enemy army intends to commit against the city and its approximately one million inhabitants.
In a statement received by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), Hamas emphasized that the Zionist ministerial council’s plans to occupy Gaza and forcibly displace its entire population constitute a full-fledged war crime, which the fascist enemy government is preparing to carry out. This reflects a continuation of its policy of genocide, forced displacement, and brutal practices amounting to ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.
Hamas stated that the Zionist enemy’s manipulation of terminology—replacing "occupation" with "control"—is nothing but a blatant attempt to evade legal responsibility for the consequences of its brutal crime against civilians. At the same time, it represents an implicit admission that its plan violates the Geneva Conventions and poses a direct threat to the lives of nearly one million Palestinians in the city.
The movement added that the decision to occupy Gaza confirms that the criminal Netanyahu and his Nazi-like government do not care about the fate of their captives. They are fully aware that escalating aggression means sacrificing them, exposing their disregard for prisoners' lives in pursuit of failed political delusions.
Hamas further noted that this decision clearly explains the Zionist enemy’s sudden withdrawal from the latest round of negotiations, which were on the verge of reaching a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement.
The movement reaffirmed that, during its communications with Egyptian and Qatari mediators, it had demonstrated all necessary flexibility and positivity to facilitate a ceasefire. It pledged to spare no effort in taking all steps to pave the way for an agreement, including a comprehensive deal to release all enemy captives at once, leading to an end to the war and the withdrawal of enemy forces.
Hamas warned the criminal Zionist enemy that this reckless criminal adventure would come at a heavy cost and would not be an easy endeavor. It stressed that the Palestinian people and their resistance remain unbreakable and will never surrender, vowing that Netanyahu’s plans, ambitions, and delusions would end in *utter failure.
The movement held the U.S. administration fully responsible for the crimes of the Zionist enemy due to its political cover and direct military support for the aggression.
It also called on the United Nations, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), and the nternational Criminal Court (ICC) to fulfill their legal and moral obligations, act urgently to halt this plan, and hold the leaders of the Zionist enemy accountable for their crimes against the Palestinian people.
