SANA'A May 20. 2024 (Saba) - The second forum for internal auditors in banks and financial institutions was held today ,Monday, in Sana'a, organized by the Institute of Banking Studies of the Central Bank of Yemen in cooperation with the Association of Internal Auditors, entitled “Towards Effective Internal Auditing.”
The aim of the forum is to inform participants from Yemeni banks and financial institutions about everything new in reviewing and auditing, and to create a window for exchanging experiences between specialists in this field.
At the opening, the Assistant Undersecretary for the Banking Supervision Sector at the Central Bank of Yemen, Balqis Al-Fusail, stressed the importance of holding the forum and its role in developing the profession of internal auditors through exchanging opinions and knowledge on the forum’s topics.

She pointed out that the responsibility for developing and raising the efficiency of internal auditing in Yemeni banks, institutions and financial companies is considered a collective responsibility that falls on the Central Bank of Yemen , the boards of directors of banks,and companies.
She urged the boards of directors of companies, banks, to appoint a specialized department for internal audit staffed by qualified people in accordance with international standards.
For his part, the Director General of the Institute of Banking Studies, Abdul Ghani Al-Samawi, indicated that holding the forum is an opportunity for specialists in the field of internal auditing to exchange experiences , knowledge and learn about what is new regarding the profession and function of internal auditing.
He pointed out the importance of the forum in finding ways, means , solutions to overcome the challenges , difficulties facing the Yemeni financial and banking sector.
In turn, the President of the Internal Auditors Association, Hisham Al-Atna, stressed that the importance of the second forum lies in the large number of professionals, practitioners and internal audit leaders in financial institutions, banks, insurance and exchange companies.
In the presence of a number of representatives of banks, financial institutions , companies, directors and specialists of auditing, internal auditing, financial control and auditors, the forum discussed 6 working papers, the first of which relates to the governance of the internal audit function according to the new standards , the role of auditing in cybersecurity risk management and enterprise risk management.
