GAZA July 14. 2024 (Saba) -The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that the smell of blood smells throughout the Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Yunis, after the massacre of Al-Mawasi committed by the Zionist enemy army, amid the breakdown of ventilation systems due to lack of electricity and fuel.
Scott Anderson, Deputy Humanitarian Coordinator and Deputy Director of UNRWA Affairs in Gaza, said in a statement after a visit to the Nasser Medical Complex.
"During my visit to the Nasser compound, I witnessed some of the most horrific scenes I have seen in the nine months I have been in the Gaza Strip."
Describing the situation as an "overstretched" medical complex, Anderson said: "The complex has received more than a hundred serious cases and patients are being treated on the ground, without disinfectants."
"The smell of blood is spreading throughout the complex amid the breakdown of ventilation systems due to lack of electricity and fuel," he said.
Commenting on the horror of what he saw there, the UN official said: "I saw young children amputated, others paralyzed and unable to receive treatment."
Anderson said his colleagues "from the humanitarian community are doing their best to increase medical capacity in the sector."
"The obstacles to humanitarian operations prevent us from supporting the residents of the Gaza Strip anywhere close to the necessary location," he said.
On Saturday, the Israeli enemy army committed a massacre in the Al-Mawasi area, west of the city of Khan Yunis, killing 90 Palestinians and wounding 300 others, including serious cases, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
