Rome – Sheba:
Italy said on Monday it was working to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and ensure humanitarian aid had access there.
Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said in a press statement during the "Mediterranean Dialogues 2024" forum in Rome, organized by the Italian Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that his country is working to find a permanent solution to the "state of chaos" in the Middle East.
Tajani referred to the "Food for Gaza" initiative launched by Italy in cooperation with the relevant institutions at the United Nations, noting that in the next few days, a plane will take off from Italian territory loaded with humanitarian aid intended for Gaza.
A ship will also set off soon from an Italian port, loaded with 15 trucks and several tons of aid donated by Italy to the World Food Program for distribution in the Gaza Strip, he said.
Last March, Italy and United Nations organizations launched the "Food for Gaza" initiative with the aim of better coordinating humanitarian aid directed to the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to a Zionist genocide war since October 7, 2023.
