The United Nations Peacekeeping Force (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon announced today, Thursday, that two of its soldiers were injured after its headquarters in Naqoura came under repeated Zionist attacks and shell.
A statement issued by UNIFIL said that two peacekeepers were injured this morning after an Israeli Merkava tank opened fire in the direction of the observation tower at UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, south Lebanon.
The statement added that the Israeli soldiers fired at the "1-31" position UN position in Ras al-Naqoura, hitting the entrance of the barracks where peacekeepers were sheltering, damaging the vehicles and communications system.
An Israeli army drone was also seen flying over the site.
The statement noted that on Wednesday, Israeli soldiers deliberately shot and disabled surveillance cameras in the vicinity of Site 1-32A, where regular tripartite meetings were held before the start of the war, resulting in damage to lighting and a repeater station.
The statement reminded the Israeli military and all of them of their obligations to ensure the safety , security of UN personnel , property and to respect the inviolability of UN premises at all times, noting that "any deliberate attack on peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and Security Council Resolution 1701."
