Sana'a - Saba:
A workshop was held in Sana'a on Wednesday to prepare the strategic framework for managing the import bill of legume crops and developing their exports, organized by the Ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries, Economy, and Industry, in cooperation with the Agricultural Cooperative Union.
The workshop aimed to reduce dependence on imported products and replace local products in manufacturing industries, with a focus on strengthening the value chain in local production, marketing, manufacturing, and export.
The Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dr. Radwan Al-Rubai, explained that the strategy depends on agricultural and industrial integration to achieve economic development, pointing to the importance of contract farming in expanding agricultural production, improving quality, and opening new markets for the export of local products.
For his part, the Acting President of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak Al-Qili, stressed the importance of contract farming in supporting producers and ensuring the continuity of production, while developing mechanisms for marketing crops through agricultural associations.
The workshop focused on activating the role of partnership between official and popular authorities to develop the agricultural sector and enhance reliance on local products.
