Hodeida province first undersecretary Ahmed al-Bishri officially inaugurated on Thursday the sorghum harvest season in the agricultural fields of al-Luhayyah district.
During the ceremony, al-Bishri emphasized that the launch of this year's agricultural harvest aligns with the directives of the revolutionary leadership and the Supreme Political Council, highlighting their focus on supporting the agricultural sector and expanding grain crop cultivation.
He pointed out that Tihama plain is a vital food source for Yemen and expressed that the harvest's commencement coincides with ongoing efforts to cultivate desert, hard, and arable lands across the province.
Al-Bishri noted that the agricultural initiatives in Tihama plain are integral to the country's agricultural renaissance, aimed at achieving self-sufficiency, enhancing food security, and reducing reliance on imports.
The Deputy Governor reiterated the local authority’s commitment to advancing agricultural projects, increasing production, and utilizing neglected lands to boost self-sufficiency in various crops.
Majed Omeish, Director of al-Luhayyah district, also affirmed that the harvest marks a significant step in the agricultural revolution, emphasizing the importance of cultivating diverse grain crops and striving for full self-sufficiency in the region.
