Amsterdam-Saba:
The Amsterdam Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a two-year prison sentence, including six months suspended for a man suspected of beating Zionist football fans during a night of violence when the Zionist fans chanted anti-Arab slogans.
The Public Prosecution said in a statement on Wednesday evening "There is no evidence of an organized link or terrorist intent, and the violence was not motivated by anti-Semitism... The violence was motivated by the situation in Gaza and not by anti-Semitism."
The violence erupted on the night of November 7-8 due to tensions that were at their peak even before the match began, when Zionist fans chanted anti-Arab slogans, vandalized a taxi and burned a Palestinian flag, according to police.
The provocative actions led to the pursuit and beating of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in the streets of the Dutch capital, and five people were briefly hospitalized after these attacks.
The man, identified by the Amsterdam court as Safa, is the second of five suspects aged between 19 and 32, who appeared before a panel of three judges on Wednesday. Safa is accused of chasing, pushing and assaulting Zionist fans.
Two other suspects are due to appear in court on Thursday, and footage of violent brawls in central Amsterdam was shown in the courtroom.
With US support, the Zionist enemy has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 151,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children and elderly people, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
