Sana'a - Saba:
Amid international warnings and due to the policies of the Zionist enemy of systematic starvation.. The issue of severe malnutrition among children is worsening in the Gaza Strip, leading to their death and severe emaciation in their bodies.
It seems that the children of Gaza are the most targeted group by the Zionist enemy army, in the midst of the ongoing genocide war in the Gaza Strip for 14 months, and they are the ones who die from enemy bombs, starvation and diseases.
Director of field hospitals at the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, says: They do not find anything to give to the malnutrition cases that reach them due to the imposed Zionist siege.. stressing that the condition of these cases is greatly worsening, which may lead to death.
He pointed out that the systematic starvation in the Gaza Strip and the policy of imposing the siege have led to the death of dozens of Palestinians, while thousands suffer the woes of hunger and emaciation, and go through harsh daily lives to satisfy their hunger and the hunger of their children.
Palestinian media sources confirm that famine is widespread in the Gaza Strip, with people consuming no nutritional value, even flour has become a rare commodity, and if available, there is no substitute for it except some flour and thyme. The sources indicate that the Zionist enemy authorities are preventing the entry of food supplies into the Gaza Strip, and basic materials in general, to the point of preventing the entry of flour, which has plunged the Strip into a terrible famine, in which people are struggling to obtain a morsel of food to keep them alive.
The sources says: This famine is certainly being paid for the most by the children of Gaza, who have paid a lot of blood, as reports from government agencies in Gaza documented the martyrdom of 18,000 children due to enemy bombs and missiles, not to mention the deprivation of nearly a million children from health, education and proper nutrition.
In its latest report, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said: 50,000 Palestinian children in the Gaza Strip are suffering from severe malnutrition, as a result of the Zionist enemy's siege on the population.. While the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed in a statement that one million children are threatened by "malnutrition".
Earlier, UNICEF's communications officer in the Gaza Strip, Rosalina Paulin, warned of an increase in the number of children suffering from severe malnutrition in the Strip.. stressing that the humanitarian situation in Gaza is extremely dire.
UNICEF spokesman in Palestine, Kazem Abu Khalaf, said in a statement: 30 percent of children in the Gaza Strip suffer from severe malnutrition.. stressing that 2,500 children in the Strip need urgent medical evacuation.
Abu Khalaf added: The situation in the northern Gaza Strip is extremely difficult and tragic and is getting worse.. pointing out that 95 percent of the schools that shelter displaced people in the Strip have been completely destroyed.
The World Food Program confirmed that food prices in the Gaza Strip have risen by 1000 percent, putting all residents on the brink of death, while UN reports confirmed that the Zionist enemy is robbing Gaza residents of the basics of survival.
The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, Hussam Abu Safiya, warned of the future impact of malnutrition on children.. saying: "Most of the cases that come in, come with advanced and late symptoms, and therefore this matter needs to be taken seriously and all the required medicines, foods and therapeutic milk for these cases must be brought in. All foods must be allowed in."
According to reports issued by municipalities in the Gaza Strip, displaced Palestinians are suffering from a deterioration in their health due to malnutrition, which has been a contributing factor in the spread of diseases and epidemics, in light of the deteriorating environmental conditions.
The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said on Saturday: Almost all of the displaced people in Gaza since last year, due to the Zionist war.. were sheltered in public buildings or with family members.
Tedros wrote in a post on the X platform (formerly Twitter): "Now, 90 percent live in tents." He added: The exposed living conditions make people "vulnerable to respiratory diseases and other diseases," and he expected that the cold weather and rains would exacerbate malnutrition and food insecurity in the Strip.
The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, warned on Tuesday in a post on the X platform that with the onset of winter, people in Gaza "need everything, but very little is coming", saying that "winter in Gaza means that people will not only die from airstrikes, disease or hunger."
On Friday, Doctors Without Borders warned that the low levels of humanitarian aid entering Gaza means that patient care in the Strip is seriously at risk, while medical conditions linked to shortages of food, water and shelter materials are expected to worsen with the onset of winter.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs also warned that armed looting, fueled by the collapse of public order and safety in Gaza, has become increasingly organized.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina Mohammed, confirmed that the Gaza Strip has the highest percentage of children suffering from diseases in the world, noting that 90,000 children in Gaza suffer from malnutrition, diseases and epidemics.
The UN rapporteur pointed out that the aid reaching the Gaza Strip is unstable and unsustainable, and does not meet the ongoing needs at all.. indicating that it is ineffective aid and does not save any lives.
The United Nations has previously warned that more than 17,000 pregnant women are on the brink of starvation in the Gaza Strip, while 11,000 pregnant women are already living in famine-like conditions.
The World Food Program reported that all bakeries in the central Gaza Strip have closed due to the severe shortage of supplies.. Bread is a lifeline for many families in Gaza and is often the only food available to them.
In addition, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of the deteriorating nutritional situation across Gaza.. saying: Two-thirds of children receiving treatment for acute malnutrition since the beginning of 2024 were registered during the past five months.
UN partners reported that more than 3,400 children went to receive treatment for acute malnutrition between the first and the 23rd of last month.
Despite the challenges facing relief organizations in Gaza, the World Health Organization and its partner Relief International have established a new center for the treatment of severe malnutrition in Deir al-Balah. This means that there are only four centers operating in this field throughout the Gaza Strip, one in Khan Yunis, another in Gaza City, and two in Deir al-Balah.
In northern Gaza, the malnutrition treatment center at Kamal Adwan Hospital has been closed since the beginning of the Zionist siege more than seven weeks ago, despite the increasing needs in the governorate.
As the Zionist war of extermination continues, the suffering of patients and the wounded in the Gaza Strip is exacerbated, in light of the lack of equipment, medicines, and medical supplies to treat their wounds and pain, and the Zionist enemy preventing them from entering the Strip.
For more than two months, the Zionist enemy has continued its intensive aggression and siege of the northern Gaza Strip governorate, which includes Jabalia camp, Jabalia al-Balad, Jabalia al-Nazla, Beit Hanoun city, Beit Lahia city, Beit Lahia project, and the surrounding areas.
