Sana'a - Saba:
The Information Technology Center Board of Directors, headed by Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan al-Sa'adi, convened on Sunday to discuss the center's performance during the current year and outline future directions and plans.
The meeting reviewed the report presented by the center's executive director, Dr. Fouad Abdulrazzaq. The report highlighted the achievements, activities, and events carried out by the center in 2024 in line with its strategic objectives.
The meeting also heard a technical and technological report from Assistant Director of the Center, Dr. Musa Ghurab, regarding the progress made in updating and developing automation systems and data exchange. Notable updates included the electronic coordination portal, student data and records system, postgraduate studies coordination portal, and the tasks and advantages of these electronic systems. These systems aim to modernize operations and provide a unified database for graduates from Yemeni universities.
The meeting approved the adoption of an electronic portal for coordination and acceptance into postgraduate programs, which will enhance postgraduate services, unify processes related to postgraduate programs, and centralize operations from coordination and acceptance to supervision of scientific theses and final discussions. This will contribute to creating a better environment for postgraduate programs.
The meeting supported the continued maintenance of university systems by the center’s team and discussed plans to provide solar energy systems, new servers, and specialized devices to replace outdated ones, ensuring the security and preservation of documents and data from damage or hacking.
The attendees also agreed to link the SAR system in universities with the Ministry of Finance system, based on clear guidelines and work mechanisms, while addressing concerns raised by university presidents regarding the smooth functioning of academic and administrative tasks.
The meeting approved the minutes of the previous meeting, along with the schedule for the center’s debt to universities for past years, with the payment to begin in the academic year 2024-2025.
During the meeting, Minister al-Sa'adi praised the efforts of the Information Technology Center's leadership and staff in implementing automation projects and digital systems, noting their significant achievements despite the current challenges and limited resources.
He emphasized the importance of universities working together to enhance the educational and academic processes in Yemen, contributing to the country’s development.
Al-Sa'adi also urged university presidents to engage with the activities of "al-Aqsa Flood" and encourage students to be prepared and ready to defend the country.
He stressed the need for universities, researchers, and academics to actively participate in the third Palestine Conference, "The Central Issue of the Nation."
