Sana'a – Saba:
A training course on the restoration and preservation of archaeological manuscripts, organized by the Manuscripts and Libraries Sector of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with support from the Cultural Heritage and Development Fund, concluded on Wednesday at the Manuscripts House.
The month-long course aimed to equip 15 students from the Department of Archaeology and Tourism at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Sana’a University, with expertise and skills in the maintenance, restoration, binding, packaging, and stitching of archaeological manuscripts, as well as methods for preserving them from damage.
During the closing ceremony, the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Ali Al-Yafai, emphasized the importance of this scientific course in providing participants with the necessary skills and expertise in the restoration and preservation of archaeological manuscripts. He stressed that such efforts are crucial to safeguarding these manuscripts as they represent a vital part of Yemeni history and authentic heritage.
For his part, the Secretary General of the Manuscripts House, Khaled Al-Rouhani, stressed the importance of this training course in the maintenance and restoration of archaeological manuscripts, as they are among the treasures that carry the history and civilization of Yemen.
He pointed out that this course is a window through which the participants learned about modern methods and techniques to preserve this valuable wealth from damage and extinction. He stressed the responsibility of the course participants, who are entrusted with preserving and restoring this cultural heritage for future generations.
Dr. Mona Al-Qadi, Professor of Antiquities Restoration at Sana'a University, stressed the importance of organizing this course for the students of the Department of Antiquities and Tourism to provide them with the necessary expertise in the field of maintenance and restoration of archaeological manuscripts, which will benefit them in their scientific and practical lives.
She praised the efforts of the Culture and Tourism Ministry's leadership , the Heritage and Cultural Development Fund and the General Secretariat of the House of Manuscripts in supporting the students of the Department of Archaeology and Tourism, including the organization of this course, from which they came out with great benefit in the field of maintenance and restoration of manuscripts.
