Ramallah - Saba:
The bitter and tragic reality and the harsh and painful conditions experienced by detainees in Mansha prison around the clock pose a danger to their bodies and lives, the Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Authority said on Monday.
The Mansha prison is newly established, and is one of the prisons and camps that were established or reopened after the start of the war of extermination on the Gaza Strip in October 2023, the Authority added in a statement, noting that the prison consists of ten rooms, two of which are for criminal detainees, and 15-17 detainees are held inside each room.
As case in the other prisons, each 2-floor bed of very thin mattress is allocated for 2 detainees and does not prevent the coldness of the iron from reaching the detainee's body, which causes him to be deprived of sleep, in addition to pain due to the hardness of the iron.
The Authority revealed that detainees in the prison are deprived of hot water, washing and showering, in addition to medical negligence and medical crimes, which increased the number of patients among the prisoners, in addition to the fixed meals of milk and jam and their negligible quantities.
The Commission explained that the extreme cold is the most common thing that the prisoners suffer from, as there are four windows in each room through which rainwater enters and forms a constant channel for winds.
The blankets are also light and worn out, and they lack winter clothes, and whoever asks them for them is punished, and most of them do not have socks.
