Baghdad - Saba:
An Iraqi security source confirmed, today, Thursday, the launch of a security operation from two axes within the Al-Maytah sector east of Salah al-Din Governorate.
The source said in an interview with the Iraqi "Al-Maalouma" Agency: "A joint security force began the operation from two axes to secure the southern part of the Al-Maytah Basin east of Salah al-Din, where the procedures include combing the areas and slopes at a depth of up to six kilometers."
The source added: "Al-Maytah is one of the vital areas near Al-Tabijah, and it constitutes what resembles belts surrounding a number of villages and liberated areas within the Salah al-Din sector. Therefore, securing it from sleeper cells is a priority to avoid any hostile activity on the borders separating Diyala and Salah al-Din."
He pointed out that "the operation is being carried out with the support of intelligence detachments that have previously identified the targets to facilitate the implementation of the tasks."
It is noteworthy that Salah al-Din Governorate witnesses, from time to time, security operations aimed at eliminating sleeper cells, by combing areas that previously witnessed activity by remnants of the terrorist organization.
