The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine congratulated on Thursday the brotherly Lebanese people on the election of General Joseph Aoun as President of the Lebanese Republic.
The Jihad Movement said in a press statement that "The Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine extends its sincere congratulations to the brotherly Lebanese people and all Lebanese national forces on the election of General Joseph Aoun as President of the Lebanese Republic, in a step that we hope will be a gateway to a new era of stability and prosperity that will enhance Lebanon's unity and sovereignty, preserve its security and civil peace, and heal the effects of the recent Zionist aggression against Lebanon and its people."
It added "We in the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, as we consider the refugees from our people in Lebanon to be guests among their brothers and part of the fabric of security and stability in this country, we affirm our support for everything that would enhance cooperation and integration between the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples, respect full Lebanese sovereignty, and continue our commitment to the laws that preserve the security and stability of this dear country."
Jihad expressed its hope that the era of General Joseph Aoun would constitute a real opportunity to address the conditions of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, in a way that guarantees their social and human rights, without prejudice to their established right to return to their homeland, Palestine.
