The US State Department issued a decision to freeze almost all current foreign aid and temporarily stop new aid, following an executive order issued by President Donald Trump, which stipulates suspending aid for 90 days to review its compatibility with US administration policy.
Media reports indicated,on Monday, that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio sent an internal memo to all US embassies and diplomatic missions, explaining the details of the decision.
The memo stated: "The administration will review all aid programs within a period not exceeding 85 days." It added: "Each program or grant will be evaluated to ensure its compatibility with President Trump's foreign policy goals," and subsequent decisions will be made regarding resuming funding, modifying programs, or terminating them
