Sana’a - SABA:
Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mohammed Qahim, and Sana’a Mayor, Dr. Hamoud Obad, inspected the progress of the first phase of the Palestine Street rehabilitation project, which is being implemented by the Public Roads Corporation at 127 million riyals, funded by the Sana’a City.
Accompanied by Deputy Mayor for Public Works and Projects, Eng. Abdulkarim Al-Houthi reviewed the asphalt restoration work along a 4.5 km stretch from the Airport Street intersection to the Marib Street intersection in Bani Al-Harith District.
Both officials praised the progress of the project, emphasizing its role in improving traffic flow and reducing congestion. They urged the completion of the remaining work within the scheduled timeframe.
Additionally, Qahim and Obad launched a rainwater harvesting project on the west side of the Military College in Bani Al-Harith District.
The project includes a drainage canal and a collection basin with a storage capacity of 300,000 cubic meters across two phases.
The first phase, funded by the local authority and the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects Financing Unit, costs 600 million riyals and will store 220,000 cubic meters.
The officials stressed the importance of expanding rainwater harvesting projects to replenish groundwater and support irrigation for agriculture.
