Hodeida - Saba:
In the heart of Hodeida city, where the sea breeze meets the heat of challenges and the stories of the simple, stands the Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority, a witness to the suffering and pain of people, and the tragedies left behind by the years of aggression and siege and what preceded them, as well as the increasing indicators of poverty and the worsening humanitarian and living conditions of thousands of families.
Between the emergency corridors, departments, medical centers, and the sounds of the devices, and in front of the Authority’s administration, the stories of dozens of poor people coming from the countryside and cities of Hodeidah begin daily, carrying their patients, begging for help and to be given a chance to save them due to their inability to pay the costs of treatment.
Despite the heavy burdens and limited financial capabilities, the Revolution Hospital Authority remains the only destination for the poor, with its medical staff and management full of compassion and humanitarian giving, not closing its doors to the poor and those in need of assistance.
Humanity first:
One hot summer night, a pregnant woman named Umm Muhammad arrived at the hospital, suffering from serious complications. Her condition required urgent surgical intervention to save her life and the life of her fetus. Given her difficult financial situation and the lack of any means to pay the costs of the operation, the hospital administration and doctors did not hesitate to help her and do everything they could. The child came out into life with a cry of hope, and the mother woke up with a smile of gratitude.
Umm Muhammad's story was not the only one. Fatima was holding her young child Ahmed in her arms, while he was in a coma, suffering from a broken right leg as a result of a fall, difficulty breathing, and severe malnutrition. Fatima searched for a hospital that would accept him, but she found closed doors and others that required costs she could not afford.
When she arrived at the Revolution Hospital Authority, she could only pray, but what she found there changed everything. She was received despite the crowding, and her child underwent the necessary tests. Minutes did not pass until the medical team began performing the operation and providing emergency treatment, amid the efforts of the nurses who did not stop for a moment to save the child’s life.
In another corner, Umm Saleh, an elderly woman from Al-Munira District, was sitting on a wooden chair, holding in her hand a prescription she could not afford. A nurse approached her and asked her kindly about her problem. Minutes later, the medications were in her hands, given to her by one of the benefactors who contribute to supporting the hospital.
Success from the rubble:
This hospital, which is the only refuge for the people of Al Hodeida Governorate and many areas of the neighboring governorates, did not collapse under the burden of harsh conditions, as its story of success began and transformed into a humanitarian miracle from among the rubble of challenges and difficulties and in light of the years of aggression against the country.
In 2018, the health conditions in Hodeida were catastrophic, especially with the escalation of aggression that made the hospital face a severe shortage of medicines and medical equipment, while the emergency corridors were crowded with patients and the injured.
Amidst these challenges, the head of the authority, Dr. Khaled Suhail, worked tirelessly, even with limited resources. He saw in the eyes of mothers the sadness and fear for their sick children, and in the groans of the wounded cries for help that called for humanitarian action and the bearing of responsibility with merit.
The beginning of transformation:
In 2022, after intensive efforts by the hospital administration and local authorities, the Center for Fever, Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases was opened. This project was a turning point, and many projects followed, providing the hospital with medical and laboratory equipment, and launching work with the latest diagnostic devices, magnetic resonance imaging and catheterization.
The hospital witnessed a qualitative shift in the development of emergency and intensive care departments, the opening of centers for physical therapy, burns, prosthetics, prosthetic devices, and others, the expansion of women's and children's care services, the introduction of new services, and the performance of complex surgeries by local medical personnel, which gave patients a better chance of treatment.
The administration watched with hope as the hospital became able to receive more patients and treat cases that it could not deal with before, confirming that this development was not just numbers and statistics, but meant saving lives and restoring hope to families and medical cases that thought there was no escape for them.
Life message:
Today, after all the achievements and great success witnessed by the Revolution Hospital Authority, it has become a model of steadfastness and challenge, as development projects continue, services are expanded, and many efforts have not been in vain, because in every child who is healed, in every mother who finds safety, and in every life that is saved, there is a human story written in letters of hope.
Thus, the Al-Thawra General Hospital Authority in Hodeida continues as a humanitarian medical fortress, providing hope to all who need it, and contributing to providing free services to patients who are unable to bear the costs. It is not just a medical facility, but a pulse of life that gives hope to patients, and confirms that humanity is the greatest force that can triumph over all challenges.
