Media reports today, Wednesday, indicated that China is working on a project to develop a satellite, used for remote sensing of the moon.
The Chinese newspaper "SpaceNews" reported that China announced a tender to develop the new satellite, and companies wishing to develop the satellite must submit applications to participate in the first round of the tender by March 8.
The newspaper indicated that the data obtained from this satellite will be used to support the first manned mission that China will send to the moon by 2030, and the satellite will be used to obtain accurate topographic data on the moon's surface, map the moon and determine the locations of minerals on its surface.
In 2021, the Russian space agency Roscosmos signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with China to create an international scientific station on the surface of the moon. As part of this station program, China is supposed to send Chang'e-6, Chang'e-7 and Chang'e-8 spacecraft to the moon.
The purpose of the first lunar missions will be to test basic technologies that will help start building a complex of remotely controlled experimental research facilities. The project is scheduled to be completed by 2028, as China plans to send astronauts to the moon in 2030.
