London - Saba:
Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with his team's performance in the last two matches in the English Premier League after his team's loss to Liverpool yesterday, stressing that they reflected the character he seeks to instill in the team.
The Spanish coach admitted that the performance against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 last Wednesday was not up to the required level, but he praised his team's performance in the last two matches against Newcastle and Liverpool.
Commenting on the loss to Liverpool by two goals to none in the 26th round of the English Premier League, Guardiola said: "The result is not satisfactory, but I saw my team's character clearly in the last two matches in the English Premier League."
"We played well against Newcastle (Manchester City won 4-0) and today against Liverpool. Against Real Madrid we were not at our best to qualify, but today, the rhythm, the pressure, the solidarity between most of the players who played in difficult positions... the performance was very good," he added.
He continued: "The analysis of the match shows that we played well. The loss does not change this assessment."
He added: "Our entire team is young, except for De Bruyne and Nathan. This young team is the future of the club. We faced a team that is a candidate to win the league, and we played very well. The match was close with chances from set pieces."
