Beijing - Saba:
China has announced its strong opposition to Canada's move to impose sanctions on "Chinese entities", considering it an "irrational and wrong" move, and vowing to take "strict necessary measures" to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press conference on Tuesday that China has lodged a solemn protest with the Canadian side, noting that China always opposes "unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not approved by the UN Security Council".
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman urged Canada to immediately cancel this wrong decision.
