[Thu, 27 Feb 2025 13:53:27 +0300]

Moscow - Saba:
Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Government Apparatus, Dmitry Grigorenko, revealed that Russia plans to provide full coverage of the Earth's surface via low-orbit satellites by 2030.

The "Russia Today" website quoted Grigorenko as saying that Russia plans to provide 100% coverage of the Earth's surface via low-orbit satellites by 2030.

He warned: "It is planned to launch 16 satellites of this type by the end of this year 2025, while the total number will reach 292 satellites by 2030."

The statements of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister came during his presentation of a national project entitled "Data Economy" at the National Center in Russia.

He stated that Russia launched 6 satellites that were completely locally produced. He explained that "Russia is among the countries with the lowest cost of the Internet in the world."

He added: "This result was achieved thanks to the development of infrastructure and competition between service providers."
