London - Saba:
British International Development Secretary Anneliese Dodds announced her resignation on Friday in protest against the government's decision to cut the international aid budget from 0.5 percent to 0.3 percent to fund increased defense spending.
In her resignation letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Dodds said that these cuts would negatively impact Britain's commitments to Gaza, Sudan and Ukraine, and would lead to "a lack of food and healthcare for people in need, which would damage the UK's reputation internationally."
The minister confirmed that she was resigning with sadness, indicating her continued support for the government.
