Ankara - Saba:
The Kurdistan Workers' Party declared a ceasefire today, Saturday, in response to the call of its leader Abdullah Ocalan to dissolve the group and disarm it.
The party said in a statement: "We declare a ceasefire effective from today, Saturday, and none of our forces will engage in any armed action unless they are attacked," according to the Kurdish "Rudaw" network.
Representatives of a pro-Kurdish party in Turkey published last Thursday the call of the leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, Abdullah Ocalan, to the party's militants to dissolve themselves and lay down their weapons.
The Kurdish armed groups announced at the time that they were ready to lay down their weapons if they were allowed to engage in political activities in Turkey.
The armed conflict with the Kurdistan Workers' Party in Türkiye began in 1984 and resumed in 2015.
