Zurich - Saba:
The FIFA Council "IFAB" approved new amendments to the laws of football for the 2025-26 season, during its annual meeting in Belfast.
The most notable amendments were regarding goalkeepers, as the rule regarding the time allowed for these goalkeepers to keep the ball was amended to 8 seconds, with the opposing team being awarded a corner kick if this period is exceeded, instead of the previous indirect free kick.
Other changes were also introduced, such as allowing only the team captain to address the referee in specific situations, and making amendments to the method of dropping the ball.
In addition, FIFA will support the testing of body cameras for referees in upcoming tournaments.
