Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Al-Rahwi christened the agreement to localize the domestic gas cylinder industry, signed by the Ministers of Economy, Industry and Investment Eng. Moeen Al-Mahakri , Oil and Minerals Dr. Abdullah Al-Amir, and the Acting Executive Director of the Yemen Gas Company, Yasser Al-Wahdi.
The agreement includes the roles and responsibilities of the two ministries and the gas company to localize the manufacture of domestic gas cylinders by 100 percent of the local product instead of importing from abroad, and to ensure their production according to the technical standards approved by the Yemeni Gas Company and in accordance with the specifications specified by the Yemeni Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Authority.
The agreement stipulates that the Ministers of Economy, Industry and Investment and Oil and Minerals will issue a decision to localize the gas cylinder industry and stop importing gas cylinders starting April 1, 2025.
The Prime Minister congratulated the signing of the agreement, which comes within the framework of the economic stimulus program emanating from the government's general program. He praised the efforts exerted by the Ministries of Economy and Oil to localize this industry.
He stressed the importance of this step, which comes after the localization of the cement industry, which everyone witnessed a short time ago. He pointed out the government's keenness to activate and restart factories working in the field of gas cylinder manufacturing to serve the national economy and contribute to reducing the import bill, while opening the way for any investor who wishes to invest in this field.
Together with the Acting Executive Director of the Yemeni Gas Company, they listened to an explanation of the production process for the manufacture of new cylinders, as well as the maintenance process and the procedures followed to adhere to the highest quality and safety standards. They explained that the production capacity of the factory reaches 300,000 cylinders per year in addition to the maintenance of 300,000 cylinders.
The ministers praised the capabilities of the factory and the level of commitment to the highest standards of quality, security and safety. They stressed the importance of supporting the factory , similar local factories to enhance competition and cover the needs of the local market for domestic gas cylinders.
They also stressed the importance of mobilizing and activating local production and industrial capacities in order to create economic activity that provides job opportunities and works to absorb unemployment and push the wheel of development. They praised the role of the factory in the process of regular maintenance of gas cylinders to ensure the safety of citizens.
