Moscow - Saba:
It is well-known that carbonated drinks have several harmful effects on the body when consumed in excess of normal amounts. In this regard, scientists have expressed a shocking view regarding the dangers of soda.
A recent study, as reported by Sputnik news agency, revealed that consuming just one can of sugary soda a day could increase the risk of developing oral cancer by five times.
Scientists arrived at this conclusion after examining data from over 160,000 women. Those who frequently consumed sugary drinks were more likely to develop the disease compared to those who drank less than one can per month.
As for how these drinks contribute to the development of oral cancer, scientists stated that the mechanism remains unclear and requires further research.
They added that these beverages, along with their sugar content, could disrupt the beneficial bacteria in the mouth, potentially leading to inflammation and changes in cells that could become cancerous.
Scientists in all previous studies agree that the components of carbonated drinks are extremely harmful to human health, as they damage the entire body, not just the teeth. They can also cause bone fragility, liver and kidney damage, and digestive issues, among others. Therefore, doctors recommend avoiding soda consumption and replacing it with fresh natural juices.
