Tornadoes and thunderstorms have killed nearly 20 people in the southern and central United States, leaving widespread destruction.
The deaths occurred in four states: Missouri, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, as a result of traffic accidents caused by dust storms and wind-driven fires.
The governor of Missouri declared a state of emergency as authorities continue to assess the damage. Approximately 26 tornadoes struck the United States on Friday night and Saturday morning, with more storms expected in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
