Dublin - Saba:
Irish Foreign Minister Micheal Martin condemned the Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties.
In a statement on the X platform, Martin called on all parties to respect the ceasefire agreement and return to talks aimed at implementing the second phase of the agreement.
He said, "They must fully implement their obligations."
He continued, "For the sake of the civilians in Gaza, who have endured unimaginable suffering, there must be an urgent end to all hostilities.
Humanitarian access to Gaza must resume immediately and to the extent necessary. This is not only an obligation under international humanitarian law, but a moral imperative."
He explained that he would discuss the dangerous situation in the Middle East with European Union leaders at this week's European Council meeting, and the need to agree on a clear and unified EU position to prevent any further escalation.
