Moscow - Saba:
The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that its air defenses downed 57 Ukrainian drones last night over several Russian regions.
According to a statement from the Russian Defense Ministry, the destroyed drones were distributed as follows:
35 drones over Kursk Oblast.
13 drones over Oryol Oblast.
Seven drones over the Sea of Azov.
One drone over Tula Oblast.
One drone over Bryansk Oblast.
This is the first Ukrainian attack of its kind since Moscow agreed to Trump's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire between the two sides in the conflict.
On Tuesday evening, the Kremlin confirmed that President Putin supported his US counterpart, Donald Trump, regarding a mutual cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure between Russia and Ukraine.
The Kremlin statement read: "During the phone call between the two presidents, Donald Trump proposed that the parties to the conflict refrain from attacks on energy infrastructure facilities for 30 days. Vladimir Putin responded positively to this initiative and immediately issued the appropriate order to the Russian military."
In the same context, Steve Witkoff, the US President's special envoy to the Middle East, indicated that the ongoing talks between the United States and Russia on resolving the conflict in Ukraine are beginning to show positive results.
"The ceasefire agreement reached is not limited to energy facilities, but also includes infrastructure in general," Witkoff added in an interview with Fox News.
"This agreement will be part of a temporary truce lasting for 30 days."
He explained that the parties are still discussing the final details of the agreement.
