A crucial meeting chaired by Bayda governor Abdullah Idris discussed on Tuesday the implementation of agricultural projects for the year 1446 AH, focusing on strengthening the provinc's agricultural sector amidst ongoing challenges.
The meeting, attended by key officials including province undersecrectary Abdullah al Jamali, reviewed a report from the agricultural sector’s head, Engineer Mohammed al-Haidari.
The report outlined several key initiatives, including expanding the cultivation of wheat, barley, corn, and legumes, as well as the implementation of vital agricultural projects.
Among the proposed projects were a field school initiative, a fish sales point project, and training programs to enhance the skills of agricultural workers.
Additional plans included the construction of an agricultural unit, machinery maintenance projects, and the purchase of motorcycles for agricultural use. Notably, a project to rehabilitate Mukayras refrigerator and establish nurseries in several districts was also highlighted.
Governor Idris emphasized the significance of these agricultural projects in reducing the country's dependence on imports, ensuring food security, and improving local economic and living conditions.
Idris called for better coordination between farmers, authorities, and development partners to boost crop production and adapt to changing agricultural needs.
