Alexander Lukashenko took office as President of Belarus for a seventh term on Tuesday, after winning the presidential elections held in January 2025, according to the Russian news agency Sputnik.
Sputnik reported that Lukashenko took the constitutional oath, placing his right hand on a special copy of the Belarusian Constitution, saying: "Assuming the office of President of the Republic of Belarus, I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of the Republic of Belarus, to respect and protect the rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to abide by and protect the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus, and to fulfill the high duties imposed on me with sanctity and devotion."
