Washington - Saba:
US President Donald Trump expressed his belief that everything is going well in the efforts to resolve the Ukraine conflict.
"We'll see what happens, but I think things are going well," the US president told reporters aboard Air Force One.
He said that news on the matter is expected to come "very soon."
He added, "There's a moment when it's either you prove yourself or you shut up, and we'll see what happens, but I think things are going well."
Stephen Witkoff, former US President Donald Trump's special envoy, arrived in Russia last Friday for his third visit. He met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Presidential Library in St. Petersburg, where the two men held a four-and-a-half-hour meeting that focused on aspects of the Ukrainian settlement.
The Kremlin explained that Moscow hopes this will be an opportunity to convey "the basic elements of Russia's position and its main concerns" to President Trump.
The Kremlin spokesman confirmed that the possibility of a phone call with President Donald Trump following the meeting is "theoretically possible."
For its part, the US administration described US Special Envoy Steven Witkoff's visit to Russia and his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as "another step toward a ceasefire and a resolution to the Ukrainian crisis."
Trump: Negotiations with Iran "Going Well"
Regarding the negotiations with Iran, US President Donald Trump announced that the negotiations between the US and Iranian delegations in Muscat are "going well."
Trump's statement came while aboard Air Force One, following a meeting between his Special Envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Saturday to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue.
Trump stated, "The negotiations on Iran are going well."
The indirect talks between the two sides took place in Muscat, and Araghchi described them as "positive and constructive," stressing that the atmosphere was calm. He also announced that the second round of negotiations will be held on Saturday, April 19.
